A minimally invasive surgery called vertebroplasty involves injecting bone cement into a spine that has broken. Restoring mobility and relieving discomfort are the main objectives of the surgery. Rather than an open incision, a tiny puncture in the skin is used during the image-guided surgery. Painful spinal column vertebral compression fractures are treated with vertebroplasty. After the treatment, most people are able to resume their regular activities in a few weeks. Leaking cement is the most common problem following vertebroplasty. This can happen to the spinal canal, onto veins, onto the intervertebral disk, or onto paravertebral soft tissue. PVP may also raise the possibility of nearby bone fractures.
